As you can tell from this blog Ashton's job requires travel.

He is gone for 2.5 weeks doing the Chick fil A calendar.

I try and keep myself busy doing mostly pointless things until he returns.

yes, i wish i looked like this running.

but most of all I have been excitedly waiting for this man to come

First, Ashton and I got to watch Jimmer. We were pretty impressed even though we were about as far away from him as we could be.... still amazing. Thanks Meghan and Cole for joining!

Second, Ella climbed to the top of the climbing wall. This was a goal she set.

(she wrote it down and everything)

Third, Piper got a taste of nursery. The leaders said she did amazing.

On MLK Day we headed to Texas Wildlife Adventure. It was so fun/scary. I was a little baby when it came to zebras feeding from my hand....

But I did it. Because if Ella can do it, so can I.

We will be going to this again.

It's been one of those weeks.....
one of those weeks that requires you to spend money.

You see my phone started slowly braking on me. It stopped allowing me to dial numbers. Since that is primarily why I use my phone this had to be fixed...

I woke up a few weeks ago spotting a tiny rip in my sheets.
It is pretty sad how big we let that hole get until we purchased new sheets.

But wait...

you can't purchase new sheets if you don't have bedding (we haven't since we have been married) that it goes with right?

So we bought this (on saaaaaale) the amount of a's is how on sale we had to get it.

Oh and I may have agreed to no Valentine's gifts...

Arizona trip

The reason for our quick road trip was a sad one. Ashton's grandpa passed away. It was a beautiful funeral in Kingman, Az.

The best part of the trip was the excuse to see all of our family!

We had a lovely week celebrating Christmas.
We have lots to be grateful for this holiday season.

Ashton's return

is not until tonight....

but I am excited.

You see Ashton has been out of town for 12 days.
12 long days.....
He had his 2nd job as the head photographer.
He also got to take pictures of some really big name athletes.
One of them being his hero.
He also had to sign a nondisclosure agreement. That sounds so intense right?
So basically he got paid to have an amazing 12 days.

My 12 days looked like this...
Piper got sick. as usual.
We took a trip to the doctor who thought she had pneumonia. (she didn't)
I was unable to do my running because of my sick baby.
I got a cold.
Ella got the stomach flu.
I was (again) unable to do my running because of my sick older girl.
I was asked to give a talk.
I didn't get paid for anything. Yes Mom, I know I got paid in blessings....

On the upside I have great friends who hang out with me and watch my kids.
I got a massage.
My girls are better now!
Ella's Christmas pageant is tomorrow.
Ashton gets to buy me a huge Christmas present as a reward for surviving. (i kid)

Did you know I have awesome friends who throw even more awesome parties? Meghan and Jill are pretty awesome for many reasons but for starters they throw a pretty amazing Harry Potter party.

Did I mention Ashton and I won best costume, apparently going the whole night lookin like a fool with no depth perception earns you awards... oh and ashton had amazing make up scars (he was Lupin)

hello.

this is what has been on my mind this wednesday.
-Piper cuddles!
-Ashton is leaving me for 11 days. I may die. But he is an important photographer these days...
-Ella is obsessed with anything Charlie Brown.
-I started training for a half marathon. i am tired already.
-I don't know what I want for Christmas.
-I have eaten 3 cookies today.
-"I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" is a song I can relate to.
-We finally finished the dark meat from our turkey and now I don't know what to have for dinner tonight.

and lastly...

have you heard "Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer" by Jack Johnson? The end is amazing and I am glad that someone realized how messed up that song kinda is.

Jack and I often think the same. I am sure if we lived in the North Shore our families would be best friends and we'd all go surfing together and talk about how bad pollution and war is.
Seriously though we love Jack in this home.

this thanksgiving was weird. due to the stomach flu our thanksgiving with friends kind of got canceled. so what's a girl (and her husband) to do but to put together a last minute thanksgiving for her little family and order an Ahhhhmazing turkey from Rudy's (that is way too big for them).
so that's what we did.
and it was yummy.
and we still have turkey galore.
but you know what's wonderful.....
being able to completely enjoy our little thanksgiving. i have lots and lots to be grateful for.
here's the quick list
-our very own christmas tree...pre lit of course cause we are lazy like that
-our home
-the chilly weather!!!
-a handsome husband that doubles as my best friend.
-2 little girls that are happy and healthy (Piper is working on the healthy part right now)
-and most importantly the Gospel.

Sooo, Ashton ran a marathon. It was pretty amazing to watch. The whole thing brought tears to my eyes. I am pretty proud of him.

Did i mention Ashton's mom came in to watch? She was amazing and helped out so much. It was so nice to have her here! Thank you Corrine!!!

October and November have been completely crazy busy mixed with lots of sickness (i am filled with NyQuil as I type). I am going wayyy back in time to post our little outing to the fall festival and Ella's ballet recital.

Also.... Ella had an adorable ballet recital. It was the most precious thing. Of course dancing was not enough for Ella and she loudly sang all the words to the music. She had quite the solo.

Today I am grateful for Christmas music and all things holiday!
Yes, I am that person who is already listening to Christmas tunes and planning my Christmas decor (which will be put up the day after Thanksgiving). Maybe I am compensating for the warm weather here. Also, this is our first Christmas with just US! I am planning all of the traditions we will start. Which includes going to a tree farm and cutting down our own tree!

Yesterday my baby turned one.
I know everyone says this but, I cannot believe it has been one whole year.
Yet, I cannot remember my life with out her.
She has made me a very happy momma!

October 4th is a special day to me.
29 years ago my husband was born.
7 years ago a certain boy (ashton) had a birthday party.
i was invited and was more than happy to go because that boy was cute.
i even bought a new shirt. Charlotte Russe anyone?
and guess what?
he hardly talked to me.
he sat by some other girl the entire night.
i was a little sad.
but,

the next day that boy called and asked me out.

and the rest is history.

October 4th reminds me how lucky I am to have met Ashton.
He is my Best friend.

here's the morning time table.

wake up at 4:45am.

5:30am- drop Ella off at Meghan's house.
(i have amazing friends)

6am arrive at the hospital6:30am- get all signed in and wait....

6:45am- watch Disney Junior.

7:15am- talk to the doctor and hand off my baby to be put under.... very hard for this momma.

7:25am- surgery is done! Fastest thing ever
the next 20 minutes was spent trying every way possible to calm our baby. (the gas makes them feel really weird)

7:45am- leave and do not look back.

8am- pick up Ella and get home.

My husband is driving home from a quick business trip in Dallas and won't be home until late late tonight (it's 11pm right now)

So what's a girl to do from 7:30 until husband arrives home?

Do the following girlie things.

1. P90X yoga
2.take a bath and belt out to Adele
3.watch Felicity on Netflix. (Who remembers Felicity??? It is awesome.)
4.eat chocolate chips in my bed
5. blog.

I am sure Ashton is sad he is missing this.

I am doing all my girlie stuff cause thanks to Ashton's amazing boss -who bought us tickets- and wonderful friends/babysitters we are hitting the BYU/UT game.

ella makes this face 90% of the time we tell her to smile. Not annoying at all.

Ella has started real, big girl pre school. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Ella joins her friends for some schoolin. She even eats her lunch in a mini cafeteria. It is adorable.

After I picked her up her teacher informed me she did very well and then added she is extremely competitive and also always wants to be the leader of everything....
Well, that exactly describes my child.

let's just state the facts.
i have been in what i like to call a little funk.
a little cranky, a little emotional. a little stressed....

here are the reasons...

1. My Piper Lane likes to get sick. She has a little asthma (we think) and that brings on lots of wheezing and ear infections. This week she has a double ear infection. lame.
2.The HEAT. Its like how I feel come every February in Utah.... trapped.
3. My husband is going out of town in a couple of weeks for 7 days.
4. Ella is stir crazy and doesn't start school until next week.

pretty basic list of problems right? they have thrown me for a loop. I have decided to drop kick my bad attitude.

here is my happy thoughts for the day.

1. Husband and I had a great date Friday night. Eating yummy YUMMY Mexican and watching X Men First Class. (that was the first X Men movie I had ever seen... totally loved)
2. We have arranged a house guest to come and stay with me while husby is away.....

SARAH!!!!!! She is being my HERO and is coming to help me for a few splendid daysss. (Your welcome for the pic of me... i am 4 months preggo with Piper)

3. P90X. Yes i am on day 2 of this and i might just die. but it's kinda awesome.

4. I shopped at HEB today instead of Walmart. It's like heaven opened up.5. I am making a delicious dinner from this recipe book given to me by my skinny momma.

6. The most important......
I have an amazing husband, happy kiddies, and the Gospel.

Swim Lessons
Ella has been in swim lessons this last week. She is really good and I love watching her get better and better. Do you see her sitting on the sides?

What is up next???? A trip to the coast this week and a trip to Washington next week. I will be flying myself to Spokane with the girlies.... pray for me.

-Mumford and Sons is great music when driving to Orange Leaf.
-Family drives are THE best.
-My Nathan water bottle broke. My heart is broken. It fell off the treadmill and splashed the lady's legs next to me. I was slightly embarrassed.
-Ashton and I got a couples massage for our anniversary. AHHHH mazing.
-Harry Potter next Friday. Will my husband talk to me again if I wear the Hogwarts cape that I still have from middle school? Time will tell.
-Piper is 9 months tomorrow. WHATTT?
-Ella loves talking and playing that we are in France. She repeatedly says bonjour.
-I got a bike for my anniversary. She (yet to be named) is beautiful! I take the girls for bike rides. We sweat.

Yesterday was our five year anniversary! It was a wonderful day. Ashton topped me on thoughtful gestures like always. This year included a video he made of pictures from the last 5 years. He is wonderful. Tonight we are celebrating by going on a hot date.

Sarah's wedding

My sister got married.
It was beautiful.
Seriously, she planned a beautiful wedding.
You know what else was beautiful...
her reception food.
pulled pork sandwhiches (strait from heaven), sweet potato fries, delicious salads, Jones sodas, red velvet cake, etc...
really it was AMAZING.
Anyways, congrats to my stunning sister and her beyond awesome husband! It was the best wedding I have been to in awhile.

Grand Canyon

Vacation Post 2
When we were done loving our life in Az we headed our little behinds up to Utah. But, we had a stop to make before we got there. We needed to see the Grand Canyon. I mean how could we not? Did I mention Ashton's brother Dallas came to Utah with us. It was so fun! I am going to bring Dallas on all of our vacays. He was such a help!

By the way... the Grand Canyon is absolutely beautiful. Seriously.

In honor of Father's Day I have decided to dedicate a little post to a couple of my favorite men

I have the BEST dad! He is the kindest and most spiritual person I know. He is always up for anything and loves doing anything fun! Also, he is really smart. He knows the most random facts (maybe that is how Ella got it). He also has flown or drove to where ever we have lived to help us move anywhere (like from Utah to Texas). Oh and my Dad rocks at the drums. He is also the BEST Papa ever. Truly, Ella is obsessed.
Anyways... on this upcoming fathers day I am thankful for my rockin Dad!

The number one man in my life is my husband. He is an amazing and thoughtful father. Ashton is full of life and has taught that to our kids. He is always thinking about how he wants our children to be raised. He is always praising Ella and teaching her how to accomplish goals. He spends lots of time around the girls and he spends individual time with them as well. Piper is in awe of her Daddy and I am nothing when he is around. As I type Ashton is with Ella at Sea World today. I could go on and on but the basic point is....

We just got back from our 3 week vacation! It was perfect. Since we have 90+ pics I think I will separate it by our locations. Arizona was our first stop. We absolutely love that place. We love our family there. We love 100 degree weather (that is NOT true) We did so much in a little time. Lots of it was centered around the pool and food. The main event was Dallas and Sterling's graduation...and i did not get any pictures, but trust me they graduated.

bridal shower weekend.

last weekend Piper and I flew our little buns to Spokane for my sister Sarah's bridal shower. It was very quick, no sleep, lots of laughs, weekend with the girls! I love my family and we had soo much fun seeing friends, eating P.F. Changs and laughing with my parents! Thank you for the weekend peeps!

it wouldn't be appropriate to not put pics of Christie and me. I get a little too giggly around that girl. Sadly, I do not have a picture of me and her little Jane. Or her and Piper. Or Jane and Piper together. because they will be the best of friends.

My little lady is 4! Can you believe it? I simply can not. She is my forever first born and she taught me how to be a mom. She is the sweetest big sister and is smart beyond her years (literally). My husband and I get along great. We are best friends. We really don't disagree on too many things. But there is one thing we have trouble agreeing on. What to watch on Netflix. I came home the other night and he was watching this.

A couple of weeks ago Ashton decided we needed to head to Lockhart, Tx to eat some BBQ. Smitty's is said to be the best. It was an hour and a half drive. It was worth every moment of it! Seriously, that was the BEST meat I have ever had. Also, the place was so Texas (i know that is a lame statement but anyone who lives or has been to Texas knows what that means)

Go to Smitty's if you are ever in Texas! It was delicious!
Oh and thanks Johnsons for the great time.

Say What?
She is such a little lady these days.
She still loves having breathing issues.
She loves sleeping through the night again. (She forgot for a little bit)

She is a sweet little chunkers and we love her!

In other less cute news....

I have a problem.
I eat way to much chocolate.
I am not even kidding.
Last night I consumed 2 Cadbury chocolate eggs the ones with the fake egg yoke.
They were for Ella's Easter basket.
I am horrible.
This problem needs to stop.
I have a bridesmaids dress that I have to fit.
Seriously what do people do to control themselves?

Maybe help me after Easter.

We had a wonderful weekend with Rachel and Loree! We ate good food! We got free delicious cupcakes. We played Fruit Ninja. We walked the Riverwalk and enjoyed a lovely dinner sans kids. We enjoyed some amazing Texas BBQ. Ashton is the bestest and watched the chicas and let us ladies head up to Austin for some shopping, eating, and some getting lost. We also visited Panther stadium. It really was a relaxing weekend and I loved seeing my sister and laughing at disturbing youtube videos. Come again Rachel and Loree! But not too soon.... I have to work off all the food we ate first!

This lovely lady (the one behind Ella) is my obsession of the week. Anne is my hero. Why you ask? She woke her cute self up at 5am last Saturday to watch my kids! Seriously??? The girl is a saint. This alone makes her the best person in the world...... no wait there is more.

Ashton is out of town in Chicago this week. I was giving the girls a bath and Ella locked her own door shut(she was not in there! thank goodness) which meant I had a naked child with no room for her to go in. Well who saves the day..... Anne. She came over and fixed it.

Did I mention she bakes...

Ok Anne, sorry for probably making you uncomfortable with my love but.... big BIG thank you.

Side note. I am reading this book. It is so charming. Also, it is not a book from the Young Adult section, so that's a step up.

But then again I have also started watching this show.

Don't judge me. It's pretty dang good, and my husband is gone.

well that is NOT the case for my Piper.
Here is the story....

Piper started to get sick again. Again!
Then it hit me (or the Doctor told me)
she has allergies.
pretty bad.

So guess what is our new best friend?
the nebulizer.
2 times a day for at least 6 months.
plus 2 meds.
and some nebulizing in between if needed.

yup.

it is actually not too bad. She is pretty happy and mostly just sits through it. I am happy we figured this whole mess out.

until then Ashton took me out for cupcakes and I may have found heaven here is Texas.

Actually I have a few things I am OH so excited about.

This sexy babe is visiting me in a few weeks. I have all of our plans for the weekend. Most of them are places we are going to eat. Did you know San Antonio has Amazing food? It does. That is why it is like the 4th fattest city. Oh and we are also going to stalk Friday Night Lights.... cause we are cool like that.

Also, this lovely couple is coming to get engagements!

They are coming Easter weekend! Really they are coming for my Easter ham... it is that good. (that is a lie) I plan on repeatedly destroying Brandon at Hand and Foot and enjoying every second of it.

Lets add their wedding to my list of things I am excited about. June trip to Utah!

On another note entirely. The Bachelor is on TONIGHT. Emily better win this thing.

P.S. Ashton has this whole week off and we just got Sea World passes! Just might be the best purchase we have made in awhile. Tomorrow we will be there.

Spokane... so far

We have been in Spokane one week so far. it has been eventful.
Ella came to Spokane sick, I thought she was getting better... I was wrong.
She had a horrible fever and cough. So to the Dr. we went.
When we went I had the Dr. listen to Piper's cough and then Piper proceeded to throw up on me in front of the Dr. twice.
Apparently Piper was very sick. So sick that I was told which hospital is the best to take her to if it got worse because it could very easily turn into pneumonia. Oh and to top it off Ella had a crazy ear infection. Luckily my parents are amazing and everyone is finally getting better. Oh and we had many blessings that day that allowed us to not got to the hospital... we call it "Piper's miracle pee."

Besides the sickness we have enjoyed being here! Ella is loving her bike and riding outside with her best friend Papa.

I have hooked my parents on Parks and Rec and The Bachelor
My mom made the best cake. ever.
And i still have 2 weeks to go....

oh and it has NOT snowed one bit here. I was hoping it would since I haven't seen snow all winter. But guess where it did?

My husband has left me for another woman.... her name is Chick Fil- A and I am not at all jealous (unless he is getting free food and not telling me). He is in Miami this week, he comes home for 2 days and then he is off to L.A. for 3 weeks to look at animatronic cows. Which means us ladies are headed to the glamorous Spokane for 3 weeks. It also means I will be spending a very romantic Valentines night with my parents. I am planning roses, chocolate, and some DVR'd Teen Mom, The Bachelor, and 30 Rock.

We had an amazing time in Arizona this Christmas! Here is the speedy rundown of some of what we did. I am not including pics of what we really did most.....eat

Texas Thanksgiving

This was the first year that we spent Thanksgiving with out any family. I was a little sad to not be in Utah with my family, temple square and the snow.... but we have been blessed with wonderful friends in San Antonio and we all got together for a little Thanksgiving feast.

Oh and did i mention it was 85 degrees that day. Yuck. (it has actually cooled down a lot since then)

We had a wonderful Halloween weekend! It was so fun this year because Ella was so SO excited to be Snow White (in fact she is wearing her costume today as I type) First, Ella went to a pumpkin painting party with her friends on Thursday. On Friday Ella's preschool had a little program and parade. Friday night we went to our friend's awesome Halloween party. We did not get any pictures but let me tell you... everyones costumes were amazing. Ashton and I won an award, we are pretty proud of it.... Most Offensive (i will let you all assume the worst.)

Saturday we went to our ward Trunk or Treat. There was a parade and huge blow up toys. It was so fun and Ashton got one billion pictures.

Piper slept through the whole thing. But I got 700 compliments on her outfit. My sister Stefany made Piper the CUTEST costume. I got pictures of her afterward.

I am almost big belly free! I am very VERY excited. Just in time for tights and pencil skirts. Also, the weather in San Antonio is so amazing so we have been killing two birds with one stone by taking long walks in the evenings. (i am doing anything to get her out)
So here i am in all of my big glory. 39 weeks.
If she does not come sooner, i am being induced on Sunday! Just in time for Ashton's mom Andrea to come.

-Ashton gets home tomorrow. He is helping with a shoot for Dodge Ram and is having a blast.

-Ella is in her room having quiet time and has been up there for over an hour reading books.
-I am going to be meeting Baby Girl Rodgers next week!
-The weather is cooling down here and it almost (almost) feels like fall.

2 days ago Ashton surprised me with bringing home some wood. He decided to build his wife a bed (he maybe was trying to please her because she constantly complains about their ghetto apartment... only 1 more month.)

It is SO beautiful. It is a farm house bed and it is antiqued around the edges. He is so manly. I LOVE HIM and MY bed. (Please excuse our miss matched bedding, it is packed away for cooler climates.)

brakenridge park

We had another Adventure Day last Saturday. Though our attempts are getting pretty lame due to my giant, swollen pregnant state. (yes, in these pictures i am aware of my very round face) A friend recommended Brakenridge Park. It is a huge park in San Antonio (kind of like Manito) that has a beautiful Japanese Garden. It was amazing.

Though as we were leaving we saw a train that went around the park and the zoo that looked pretty nice. I am so glad we did it. Ella was in heaven. I loved watching her be so in to the whole thing. We only got a couple of pictures and they are not too pleasant. Ella would not look at the camera, her hair fell out and her nose was runny. Oh well. Oh and can i just say my husband is amazing. When i say "we" did all these things i pretty much mean him. He did all of the Ella entertaining while i slowly waddled behind.

Just got back from my relaxing trip to Washington. We (Ella and I) had such an amazing time. We did lots of fun things while there! My sisters were able to come and visit the last week so we had a ladies weekend. Here are many pictures from our visit. Mom and Dad thanks for spoiling us girls.

Random Thoughts

While Ella naps today i thought i would share with the world some of my inner most feelings (all while watching Real Housewives of New York)

-Some girls look really cute 7 months pregnant, some girls (ME) look 8 months pregnant when they are really 7. That is ok, unless you are forced to sit by one of those cute girls at church.

-I have accepted the fact that "I'm so Glad When Daddy Comes Home" is Ella's new favorite song and gets put on repeat every time we are in the car.

-Super Mario World on the Wii, HGTV, and the book The Lightening Thief keep Ashton and I pretty happy.

-I can eat an entire party bag of Peanut Butter M&Ms in one day.... all. by. myself.

-Cooking for a husband who doesn't eat carbs is not fun.

-My neighbors are weird/crazy.

-I cannot wait to see Inception tonight.

-I love when rich bosses give us baby stuff. like a McClaren double stroller.

-Ella's hair got green because i forgot to give her a bath one time after swimming. luckily it is back to normal. (sarah that always reminds me of your green hair story)

-My body is not meant to be pregnant.....unfortunately my body is more meant to then Ashton's.

Just got back from AZ! It was as usual wonderful. Each time we go Ashton and I try to plot how we can move there. We did so many fun things and i hardly took any pictures. Lame.

We spent lots of time doing this.
We also went to 2 waterparks, the Aquarium, the splash park, ate at too many restaurants, went to the Bounce Jungle, made cute hair bows, saw Eclipse twice and Knight and Day, and Ashton surprised me with a night away to celebrate our anniversary. Needless to say we are sad to be back in the real world again.

Ashton also got to experience the bar scene when he and his brother Adam went to watch his other brother Brandon rock out with his band. He said it was quite a funny experience. He also went late night paint balling and took some amazing pictures of his brother Adam mountain biking. Needless to say he was loving his life.

The best part was spending so much time with our wonderful family. Ella LOVED playing with her cousins.

Can't wait for my Spokane trip next month!

We are really enjoying exploring Texas. Saturday had been renamed "Adventure Day" where we go and do something new. This last weekend we headed to a small town called Boerne (pronounced Burney) to see the sights. It is a little tourist town that goes along a beautiful river. We saw a very random bird show (that was Ashton's idea) and then we went to this little Inn that had amazing shaved ice. We then walked along the river and Ella discovered minnows. It was really fun. We already have our plans for next Saturday.

Another thing we have been enjoying... the evening weather. We have become frequent guests at the pool. Ella is getting good.

And i am getting good at relaxing and enjoying my book.
